The original Church dates back to the 12th century, with significant additions and alterations being made over the centuries that followed.
When the church was renovated in 1884, its four unringable bells were recast and augmented to make a ring of five bells. These needed significant repair following the church spire being struck by lightning in 1982.
In 2018 (see pictures below), the bells were rehung and augmented to a ring of six bells by John Taylor of Loughborough, with the tenor weighing 7.5 cwt and tuned to the note of A♭.
