As members of the Peterborough Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers, it was an absolute thrill for members of the Welland Valley team to join other bellringers from the Kettering Branch and other towers in the area to ring on the 12 bells at Peterborough Cathedral.
The Cathedral’s main 10 bells came from St John the Divine in Leicester in 1902, with 2 treble bells added in 1986.
The ringing chamber is reached by climbing up a spiral staircase of more than 100 steps, following by a short walk across a wooden platform over a vaulted ceiling (pictured below), leading into a passage around the ringing room.
